Heat stress is a major concern for farmers, affecting both broilers and layers. Heat waves can affect animal health and production, and with weather getting hotter around the world, finding ways to help chickens to stay cool and healthy is more important than ever. In the hot days, animals tend to eat less, drink more and reduce their activity, which can jeopardize their performance and represent health danger. One of the best ways to help your flock to deal with the heat is by adding special additives to their feed. This supplementation includes nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, enzymes, organic acids, and essential oils.

3 strategies

To compensate for lower feed intake, liquid blends of vitamins can boost their health and, consequently, maintain their performance despite the high numbers on the thermometer.

Another excellent strategy is using enzymes like xylanase end protease that enable better energy and protein digestibility, respectively.

Finally, protected organic acids and essential oils help to modulate gut microbiota, ensuring optimal response during stressful situations.

Summer has arrived and it is essential to prepare your animals for the season. Make sure that fans and coolers in your facilities are functioning correctly and that you have all the necessary additives in stock to meet the needs of your birds in regular temperatures and during heat waves.
