$100 000 CAD for the next generation in agriculture
Saint-Hyacinthe (Quebec), June 20, 2018 – The Jefo Foundation held a fundraising event to ensure the next generation in the agriculture industry. This year, the traditional golf tournament was replaced by a reception cocktail at the Jefo Campus, a state of art building which aims to become a center for sharing knowledge in agribusiness.
Founded in 2015 by two passionate agronomists, Nicolas Jobin and Jean fountain, the Jefo Foundation is a non-profit organization. Since its inception, the Foundation has a mission to invest in the next generation of agriculture professionals by supporting academic education and innovation.
“At Jefo, we understand the importance of the next generation! We have built a company that is currently present in more than 80 countries. For some years now, I prepare the next generation of our company through my two eldest children, Emilie and Jean-François, who are very involved in Jefo’s management – but we must also think on a larger scale. There are less people working in agriculture, despite excellent career opportunities! Agronomists, veterinarians, technicians, agriculture producers, these are just a few examples. We must take action now to ensure that our know-how will continue to make the Saint-Hyacinthe region shine globally” says Jean Fontaine.
Tickets sales totaled $ 50 000 CAD and Jefo matched the donations. This amount will be used to implement the Jefo Education, a program that will provide scholarships of all levels of education, and the Jefo Innovation, a program that will encourage and support research and development in the agri-food industry.
The event was a great success, with more than 200 participants who wish to be part of the exceptional Jefo Foundation adventure.
